VersaNode™

VersaNode™ can be configured for a versatile range of applications thanks to its versatile service package deployment. Examples include data acquisition, control, gateway functionalities, message brokering, OPC UA server/client capabilities, and peer-to-peer (tunneled) communication.

It can be programmed using any language or platform—such as CODESYS, Python, C++, or C#—offering unmatched flexibility for developers. VersaNode’s Services Package Manager allows you to extend the node with a variety of predesigned services, including a PLC, edge gateway, data acquisition, firewall, database, OPC UA or MQTT client/server, VPN peer/server, and much more.

VersaNode’s advanced backplane bus supports expansion with an unlimited number of software-addressed submodules. These submodules include, but are not limited to, NVMe SSD, GSM, Coral TPU, and high-speed (60 MHz) analogue or digital I/O modules.

Powered by the Raspberry Pi 5 Compute Module (featuring an ARM Cortex-A76 processor), VersaNode operates at a processing speed of 2.4 GHz (quad-core).

  • VersaNode includes a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) that provides hardware-based security, enabling secure key storage, device authentication, and protection against tampering.

  • VersaNode features a real-time clock (RTC) powered by a supercapacitor, ensuring accurate timekeeping with a near-infinite lifetime—eliminating the need for battery replacements.

  • Engineered with dual Gigabit Ethernet ports, Wi-Fi, GSM support, and integrated Modbus, it offers flexible connectivity—whether you’re linking remote sites, streaming data over cellular, or running fieldbus protocols.

  • Featuring USB-A, USB-C, microSD, and HDMI, it provides versatile I/O, streamlined data access, and easy display integration for seamless setup and on-site diagnostics.

  • The VersaNode-IO bus (Positioned on right-side of the controller) enables adding an unlimited number of software-addressable I/O submodules—including both digital and analog—to the right-side of the controller for virtually limitless expansion.

    Available IO submodules include:

    • Analogue-PM-4 (4 channels/assets: Predictive Maintenance, specialized simultaneous sampling analogue input submodule.)

    • Analogue-ST-I4 (4 channels: Standard analogue simultaneous sampling input submodule.)

    • Analogue-ST-O4 (4 channels: Standard analogue output submodule.)

    • Digital-ST-I16 16 Digital Inputs (Reads the state of electrical inputs.)

    • Digital-ST-O16 16 Digital Outputs (Control digital outputs.)

  • The VersaNode-Aux bus (Positioned on left-side of the controller) enables the addition of advanced submodules to extend communication, processing, or storage. VersaNode offers industry-leading submodules right at the edge.

    Available Aux submodules include:

    • SSD (Extend your VersaNode with more storage.)

    • TPU (Extend your VersaNode with a Tensor Processing Unit.)

    • GSM / LTE (Extend your VersaNode with cellular communication.)

    • LoRa (Extend your VersaNode with LoRa communication.)

  • The VersaNode Package Manager allows to deploy configurable and manage services to extend the nodes capabilities. The node might be configured to run as many of the packages as you like.

    Example packages include the following:

    • Programmable Logic Controller (To function as a PLC, programmable with CodeSys.)

    • Database Server (SQL or NoSQL)

    • Firewall (Protect any of your VersaNode’s networks.)

    • OPC UA or MQTT Client / Server

    • Siemens S7 Communication (SO-on-TCP)

    • HMI Server (CODESYS HMI or CODESYS WebVisu.)

    •  P2P Secure High-Speed Tunnel (Between 2 VersaNodes)

    • Asset Management Statistics (Push node stats to the cloud.

  • Linux runs VersaNode! Linux offers stability, security, and flexibility with strong community support, while being lightweight and highly customizable for embedded and industrial environments.

  • VersaCloud is Engineered to support the functionalities of VersaNode in a remote and managed environment.

    VersaCloud provides the following optional services:

    • AI-based Predictive Maintenance (Detect performance issues on assets before they cause serious downtime.)

    • Database, Historian, SCADA, MES & Analytics.

    • Asset Management (Works with the VersaNode Asset Management package.)
